Message from the President January 2022
Welcome to the new website of the Northland Genealogical Society. This year – 2022 – marks the 25th anniversary of NGS’s founding. We started as a small group meeting at Maple Woods Community College and have grown to more than 60 members – all of whom meet virtually. Some of you viewing this page have been with us since the beginning, and we thank you for your loyalty.
NGS’s mission is to create and foster an interest in genealogy, provide educational programs to the public and aid genealogical and family history research.
Our programs are open to everyone, but members enjoy so much more. First, there is the monthly newsletter; it is full of program information, a calendar of events, and genealogical hints and websites to investigate during your family search. All members can obtain copies of speakers’ handouts and enjoy replays of past presentations when they are available. Only members can join our Special Interest Groups, which cover subjects including DNA, genealogical writing, dealing with brick walls and lineage societies. Members also enjoy access to a private Facebook page that can help with questions and information.
